Shake it up at the Hurricane Party

Hurricane Party: Let’s Dance!

Get excited, shake, shimmy and get in the swing with two great Auckland bands.

Asumadu Jazz Ensemble (AJE)

Led by Ghanaian master musician and multi-instrumentalist Yaw Asumadu, who has been performing his own brand of jazz in Ghana and London, including a residency at the legendary Ronny Scott’s bar and in Oren Marshalls Charming Transport Band, this new ensemble presents a fresh line up just for the festival that will have you dancing and singing along with their fusion of afro-grooves and jazz.

Filthy Junk Traders

Taking inspiration from the lawless saxophone sections of the swing age and the heavy-footed beats of hip hop producers who reimagined the dusty recordings of that era, the Filthy Junk Traders bring their finest bars of filthy jazz, funk, and hip hop to Totara St.

Get it while it’s hot.
